Founded on sweet homemade breads and generations of restaurateurs, Breadwinner Café and Bakery has been nationally recognized for it’s delicious sweet breads. It was featured in the December 2011 issue of O Magazine as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things. The description in O Magazine reads, “This impossibly moist confection is delicious, any way you slice it.”
Breadwinner Café and Bakery has been featured on “The Today Show,” Food Network, and “Good Morning America.” It was also featured in the book “Food Lovers Guide to Atlanta: The Best Restaurants, Markets & Local Culinary Offerings” by Malika Harricharan.
Breadwinner’s Facebook page boasts: “Great food fast and fresh. Ours is homemade fare created from scratch, based on family recipes, and made with natural ingredients. Soups, salads, sandwiches, and our famous Breadwinner sweet homemade breads, plus mouthwatering daily chef-created specials.”
Breadwinner had humble beginnings and grew steadily over the past 6 years. “It was founded in my home with my wife Katie and my sister Wendy, who does not live with us,” said Geoff. After occupying a bakery store front for several years and high demand from it’s customers, the Café opened in October 2010 with the help of Chef David Bressler.
“Don’t fear the long lines,” Bressler said. “As soon as you pay you find a table and eat. There’s no long waits for waiters to take your order and have to wait for your food to be made. Our food is made fresh daily. We have no bagged foods here. Even our dressings and spreads are made fresh.”
Some favorite bread flavors include “Better Than a Bubble Bath Mocha Chocolate Chip,” “Party at My Place Pumpkin,” and “Papa Don’t Peach.”
The café walls are adorned with oversized black and white prints of the owner’s great grandfather’s restaurant and his wife’s great grandfather’s restaurant. The tables are made with 100 year old tongue and groove wooden floors. There is a happy feel to the café as everyone greets you with a warm smile. The lights are just low enough to give a cozy ambiance. Flower centerpieces await guests at each table.
The Café also provides catering all over Sandy Springs and surround areas for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Breadwinner Café and Bakery is located just over a mile south of Sandy Springs Toyota off Hammond Drive at 220 Sandy Springs Circle (in the Springs Landing Shopping Center).
Store hours are Monday-Saturday 8:30am – 6pm.
