Blue Moon Pizza

April 1, 2012

By Julie Paulk

Kelvin and Mandy Slater have been making guests feel welcome at their restaurant, Blue Moon Pizza, for nearly a decade.

Blue Moon Pizza is a full-service restaurant that just happens to serve pizza. They are not your typical pizzeria. Blue Moon has a full bar, with lots of craft beers, great wine list, and creative specialty martinis. They deliver and cater, as well as offer Take-n-Bake pizzas, where you get your pizza made, but not cooked, wrapped with instructions, and then cook it at home in your own oven, on your own schedule.

Co-owner and soon to be new mother, Mandy Slater said “I love serving guests and making them feel welcome. Seeing them leave happy and then come back the very next day is very rewarding.”

Before becoming so far along in her pregnancy, Mandy and her husband Kelvin enjoyed spending their time eating out, watching movies, reading, and spending time at home with their dogs. The Slaters live in the Chamblee area and have always wanted to have a restaurant location near the hospitals, due to the captive audience and great lunch market.

The Sandy Springs location is their fourth Blue Moon Pizza location. “We have both always been in the restaurant business and wanted to do our own thing, and create a place where we would like to go.” As a result, the Slaters started the concept almost nine years ago.

When asked what her personal favorites were, Mandy responded “I love everything, but the Grandma’s Pizza is really special. It is not something you will get anywhere else in Atlanta. It is a square, sicilian style pizza made topped with our own sauce made with crushed tomatoes, sliced garlic, fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil. I also love our Greek salad.”

Blue Moon Pizza, known as one of the top pizza restaurants in Atlanta, currently seats over 100 and another 40 customers will be able to dine on the up and coming patio. Pizzas, flatwiches, salads, and homemade desserts are among the most requested items at Blue Moon Pizza.

Catering and delivery are available at each of the four locations. Visit  http://www.bluemoonpizza.com and www.facebook.com/MyBlueMoonPizza.

“We specialize in creating an out of the ordinary experience for our guests, creating an everyday place that still feels special.”
